The view southward from the forum of Pompeii is of fields of vegetables, vines and trees: of the last, chiefly apricot trees of this variety, also known in some parts of the Campagna as 'San Castrese'. The fruits are rather narrow, deep orange, juicy and sweet, particularly valuable as a variety ripening 2 - 3 weeks before the famous 'Royal' and 'Blenheim'. The basis of a local neapolitan canning industry, as the fruits hold together well when brought to the boiling point, with a product superior to any other varieties we offer. Season mid-late June. Fairly low chilling requirement, 400 hours. On Citation.
